Navy limits GED enlistments to no more than five to ten percent each year.

There are always many, many more GED-holders who want to enlist than there are available slots, so -- even to be considered -- a GED holder must score much higher on the ASVAB, than a high school diploma recruit.

At 17 why settle for a GED - just finish high school then talk to a recruiter. Or you can talk to a recruiter and tell him you plan on finished HS and you'd like to go DEP. But it will be a condition in your contract....

It is possible.

You would need your parents consent and be at least 17 and a half.

The number of people that can come in is restricted and you would need a high ASVAB score. Additionally, they would probably want you to join in a high demand job in order for it to be worthwhile for the recruiter to go to the trouble of putting in someone with a GED.

It will also depend on how bad they need people. If the recruiter has already met quota, he will probably turn you away. But if he is desperate, he will be more willing to work with you.

The chances of getting in are not great, but it is possible.

I think it will, but your parents will have to sign the paper work because your not 18 and not an adult yet in the eyes of the law, i know the Army will take you if you meet all the standerds. Good luck.

A GED is generally qualifying for entry into the Navy though they do limit the total number of GED enlistments.  They will not take you at age 17 unless your parents or legal guarian sign an unconditional and irrevocable release to allow you to enlist.  If both parents are alive and can be reached, BOTH must sign the release.

no.  the Navy takes very few GED holders period..and at 17 you must have the HS diploma and parent's permission.
