  1. Don't think so. As the years go by the teams that do well are speedy offensive minded clubs. The Devils still rely on the old boring trap too much to go far in the playoffs. And Brodeur's age isn't a positive factor.

  2. Coming from a devils fan no.  Of course I would love them to win the cup this year but they just don't have what it takes right now.  I think they will go far into the playoffs but not the finals maybe they'll make semi.

  3. Nope.

There is better teams out there.

    But then again...proove me wrong.

  4. Coming from a die hard Devils fan and season ticket holder who would love to see them go to the cup finals I don't think they really have the best team. A good one, yes. I think if they allow Brodeur a little more of a brake, get more ice time for Parise and Elias and work there defense they have a good chance however It wouldnt surprise me if the Red Wings won another cup now with Hossa on their team. The devils will make the playoffs for sure and Id love to see them go further. I guess well have to wait till june to see. I mean no one expected the Penguins to go as far as they did this year even with Crosby and Malkin

  5. Sorry, but New Jersey does not have the team to win a Cup at the moment!  In fact, to get a Cup winning team will require some very significant changes to their roster.

They have likely improved their offense with their more recent moves, but they need to improve their team defence significantly from both a defence and forward perspective.

Also... bringing back players they used to have because they used to be succesful with them usually does not work - these players are older than they once were and they no longer are being led by Stevens!

  6. A resounding h***s NO!!!  Not a chance.  Sure they will make the playoffs and maybe win a round, but no way they beat ANY team from the West or Montreal, Philly, or even Pittsburgh or Tampa.

News flash... the days of the Devils winning Cups are over.

  7. No.  Because their management just rides Brodeur not bothering to give him any legitimate help then blame him when he's tired in the playoffs.

  8. I'll let you know in June.

  9. A couple years ago and I would say yes.  Rolston is not going to help that much.  Brodeur is great but can't do it alone.  They don't have enough scoring depth.  Plus they got to get by the rangers first and after last year if they can't beat the rangers they are not even close to be considered a cup contender.  They are a playoff contender but that's it.  I hate to say and its sad but there are devils fans that don't like langenbrunner as captain.  I mean if you don't like your captain, your ultimate team leader what does that say about their chances.  I do hope that when the devils make the playoffs they can at least eliminate a rangers or flyers.  I would like to think they may not make it and the only way that will happen is if buffalo makes it back in and maybe a carolina.

  10. They'll make the playoffs for sure, but I don't think they can win the Cup this year.  And that's coming from a Devils fan.  We just don't have a team like Detroit to go all the way.  The Devils were 4th in the East last season, and they're definitely going to improve with Rolston and Holik added to the team, and having gotten used to Brent Sutter's coaching style, but not enough to be Cup worthy.

  11. no.

they just are not the team.

i think they will make the playoffs tho

  12. Even as a diehard Flyers fand, I really believe it is possible. Louie is gonna have an excellent defensive team in place, Elias and Gionta are both 50 plus goal men, Rolston, Parise and Zajac (if he gets it together) are going to really boost the secondary scoring. As much as I dislike Holik he is the type of third line center that they missed last year, he can muck it up and grind it out, which in the playoffs becomes irreplaceable. Their d will be solid, Martin is a tremendous puck carry, in the mold of Scotty Neidimeyer, and White will bring a physical edge, plus their veteran leadership and system will take the load of some of the younger guys. Lastly, though you have the greatest edge in the history of hockey, Mr. Martin Brouduer in the pipes, he can simply win games all by himself (I've witnessed him steal games from the Flyers many times), so if he plays steady and their system works like it usually has they have as good a shot as any team, better than alot because of Marty to win the Cup.

  13. No, they have added some offensive depth this off season, but they are still depending on Brodeur WAY TOO MUCH and he will get tired late once again. The team lives and dies by Brodeurs performances, and he is starting to play like someone past his prime.

  14. No they will not. Why? They got two players that they've had before and are trying to go back to the glory days. Rolston will be a good addition for a lackluster offense in Jersey. As for Holik, I think he'll be out of place. He went from the Devils to the Rangers, right there is a sin and I'm not sure he'll be welcomed back. Plus Brodeur is a good goalie, but he can't last 78 games a season and he'll be burnt out for the playoffs as usual. Plus the Devils didn't really acquire anything on their mediocre blue line.

  15. No, they will be in the playoffs of course, but the east has many teams that are in their class, whereas Detroit is clearly the class of the league.  Look for Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rangers, and Montreal to be up there with NJ this year to determine who loses to Detroit in the Stanley Cup.

  16. no cause there d-fence is weaksauce other then broduer back in the net playing both d-fence and goalie there basically like the ny rangers with Lundquist. Look they will make the playoffs and be the 4th seed but lose in the first round just like last year and thats the bottom line cause the GnR man said so...
