I'm not the biggest fan of W.S.B but even I can see they are just clutching at straws here:

This just in from the FIM:

Superbike World Championship

Changes to the Technical Rules for 2008 - Twin cylinders to 1200cc

After consultation with all the parties involved and upon the proposal submitted by the Superbike Commission, the FIM has decided the following amendment and additions to the Superbike World Championship technical rules for 2008.

Displacement capacities.

o 2 cylinders over 850cc up to 1200cc

o 3 cylinders over 750cc up to 1000cc

o 4 cylinders over 750cc up to 1000cc

ETC ETC..................................

The rest can be read here : http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/Jun/070616a.htm

My question is, will this save W.S.B ? Its already gone down hill big time with the one make tyre rubbish. What next, one make bikes? Dear god, someone just sack Flammini and bring Dorna in ........ to close it once and for all.

What do you guys think?

  1. This move definitely wont save WSB on its own.

The rule change has been forced by Ducati but Flammini has tried his best to please everyone with more than two cylinders by the weight penalty and the air restriction.

Ducati moans now, but their bikes go like stink. They argue that the money they have to spend to make it competitive is far greater than the Japanese teams.

As far as next year goes, it will muddy an already weakened championship if the Ducati is Stella fast or slow depending on what rule change has been levied against them for each round till it gets sorted.

    2008 will be a write-off year

2009 could be interesting with the likes of KTM, Benelli and BMW threatening to field teams. By then the rules should be sorted and it should be a show to watch again.

Hopefully next year Toseland will be on a MotoGP bike and I would personally like to see Bayliss on a MotoGP Ducati in place of Capirossi

  2. Sorry dude but I have to disagree with you. However keep in mind I am a twin man. The four's have somewhere around 25-30 hp on the twins and this would have grown more next year.Ducati has given up the heavily modified 999 for more cc and more of a true production bike. I am here in the states with the AMA and it sucks in comparison. There is only three real tracks out of the lot that make for some good racing. After attending the race at Barber Motorsports Park I had a lengthy conversation with Arron Yates and his crew chief. I asked if he had a real chance moving from the yoshi factory team to team Jordan. He said his bike was the same and it was every bit as fast as Mladins and Spies's . His problem is that he does not get the same tire as the other two. They get a totally different tire so they have a definite advantage.

From there I walked over to talk with Jake Zemke I asked him  if he had something for the suzukis this season. His reply was the honda is plenty fast but Its a tire thing. We don't get the same tire.

I have a friend of a friend that drives Troy Corsers bus and we have asked him the same of Rossi. and yes he gets his own tire as well.

So as you know I am a huge fan of WSBK and I have been throughly impressed with the results of the Pirelli deal.I have not missed a race since I started watching in 99. Gone are the days where Colin and Troy would run off with the race and now we have 6 riders on all makes battling it out every week. And from my source the riders love it.GO HAGA!! Whats you closest track? I would love to attend a Wsbk race. My life dream is to win the lottery and become a WSBK bum going to every race including the motogp rounds. On the off weeks I would spend my time in a red light district and sampling the local pubs. I would be a happy man

Hey i have been looking for this video this guy on the goldwing will film you on the road known as the dragons tailit is one of my favorite rides here. he is sicko fast and you cannot lose him
