Question:

Will the phrase 'The Media' ever go away?

When will we as a society refuse to accept this term no longer? It is VARIOUS MEDIA SOURCES. By lumping every single media outlet, including 'bloggers' (aka fat white guys in their underwear writing opinion pieces out of their filthy one room apartment with no revenue to speak of), and every biased, skewed media source, whether it be left or right, we have taken the credibility out of news coverage in America. When an individual media source voices an opinion rather than fact, they should be called out by name and by outlet, not referenced in another media outlet as 'They are saying' or "Being said in the media". The only time it should be ok to say 'The Media' is when an individual is giving a quote to several media outlets at once.

  1. Not likely. The word "media" is the plural of "medium", which is one method of application and use of something, a mode of expression.  This term is not only applicable to news coverage. For example, a medium in art would be painting or drawing. There is rint media (books, journals, etc.) and music is also a medium of expression. As long as people are expressing their talents, opinions, and feelings, this word will stick around.
