Will the pirates be in the playoffs in the near future

after all these trades it seems like their farm system is on steroids

Im thinking they will be a contender in 2012 but i dont think they will make the playoffs until 2015 because of the division they are in

Now that their new GM has shown he has the guts to trade away very good ballplayers for a ton of talent that could be even better, yes they should be in the playoffs in the near future. Since the Bucs were not going anywhere this year, they decided to ensure their 2009 and 2010 teams were going to be competitive by making the last two trades. That, and the fact that they didn't have to give up LHP John Grabow in any deal. He may even fetch more talent in the offseason. Good job Neal Huntington!
