No, I leave mines on at night, but don't try to do it so often or it will overheat.

i leave it on standby mode ALL the time. I dont see any problems...

No. I never completely turn mine off. Like DVD players and so forth standby is generally like off except that it still has some power going through. They do this because constant turn on and off is actually bad for electronics because of the sudden surge of power. Think about light bulbs and how most of the time they go out right when you turn them on.

So basically turning off the system completely is a lot worse than standby.
