  1. Nah, not really!

Both are champion teams.  Both have unstoppable players.  Hawks will be fine if they lose and Cats will get over it if they lose.  Same goes for the Doggies.

Fact is the more I think about it, there are only three teams in this year's comp who can win.  One of the others might make the granny but they don't have a REAL show of winning.

My tip for tonight - Hawks by 16 .... but I think that would be a good thing for my beloved Cats as the Pies victory was so far back I can't remember the round number!!

  2. Might give a guideline and some more confidence to the Cats ( as if they need it )......but finals are a step up again- I'd still back the Cats for the Flag at this stage, unless something Cat-astrophic happened..........sorry about that Chief........

  3. absolutly nothing as the final eight will be as follows

geelong week 1 coll beat geel

    bulldogs              dogs beat hawks

    hawks                 swans beat saints

    magpies             brisbane beat adelaide

swans week 2 geel beat brisbane

    brisbane           swans beat hawks

adelaide week 3 coll beat swans

    st kilda                  dogs beat geel

    Grand Final dogs beat coll

  4. I don't believe that we should be basing our finals predictions on tonights game, no matter how good one side is.  All I think this game will prove is that we need more games that are antisipated as much as this one has been!

  5. I think both sides have some of their best players out.

So will be interesting to see the strategies they use.

There is no doubt that they will both take it up a gear , come september, but as for tonight I think both teams will still be keen to prove something.

    Cant wait to watch it!!

Hope its a better game than the Cats and Dogs last week

  6. No. Just a bunch of fur & feathers will result from it...

  7. No it wont mean a thing, next game will have changed conditions, some players will come in to the teams, others go out.  The only advantage will be the confidence gained by the winning club.

  8. For the Cats, it won't mean much if they win,  but for the Hawks if they beat the Cats, (as they did last year), it will give them enormous confidence going into the finals, they will know that ablett and ling would make a huge diff, as will Mitchell and Hodge if they miss tonight.

  9. nah i doubt it'll give us any insight into the finals whatsoever i just reckon it'll b a cats vs dogs GF

  10. It wont mean much ........  both teams already know they will be playing finals and neither side has thier strongest teams in, and finals are when teams take it to another level.

After saying that it would be nice to see them go for the win and would be nice to see Hawthorn win.

    - Go Hawks

  11. i think that it will show if geelong are invincible towards the 2 and 3 spot teams or it may show the grand final

  12. Nah.

Means nothing. A complete new ball game when finals come around.

They don't have to bust a gut this weekend to cement a particular spot on the ladder. Mainly just personal pride, & not getting injured, is at stake.

  13. It will mean very little in the overall complexion of the season. Both are certain to finish top 3 and the rest of their seasons will be focused on getting their sides fit and ready for a crack at the flg.

Neither side is fully fit right now, Ablett, Ling, Crawford and Dew are just some of the names missing, but if anything, this may help the sides come September as they will have some real depth.

I suppose the real benefit tonight though is learning to cope with 90,000 fans - ok, that is more a benefit to the Hawks, Geelong have been there and done that.

  14. it will just show how far ahead of the comp the cats are

the hawks run seems to have come crashing down

  15. Yes it will. If the hawks have a win tonight or get within 2-3 goals it means that there a serious contender to win the flag. Geelong have got cameron ling out and of course ablett, so that will ease the pressure of the hawks a bit, but geelong will still come out firing and be hoping to thump the hawks.

  16. I don't think this game will show us what will happen come finals time. A finals match is a totally different atmosphere, and puts more pressure on the players.
