  1. King Canute never said he could hold back the sea.  He was proving to his courtiers that he could not.


  2. He sold all the gold when he was chancellor, he's absolutely correct, he has bankrupt the country and there is no foreseeable ray of hope. No boom, just bust!

    Bet when he retires his elected member for Parliament is SNP.

  3. It's a pretty cheap shot.  Not one of the factors affecting the worlds economies at present are anything to do with Gordon Brown.  He just ran out of luck and the British electorate (that well known headless chicken) is running around clucking its confusion fuelled by the usual media agenda.

    If anyone thinks the Tories or anyone else would have faired better under these circumstances they are stark raving mad.

    I suppose Gordon could be entered into that.

    We could always use his head as a doorstop, that might make him usefull.
