I keep a backup of the 1000 or so songs i have on my itunes on my computer - my documents. If i delete these songs on my documents (to free space), will the songs on my itunes still play - without the exclamation mark coming up?

  1. So long as you don't delete itunes as well, yes, they will. They are two separate files. Why not transfer your backups to a dvd or cds? That will save a lot of memory.

Didn't you mean that you had backed up your songs in my Documents, or is that where you install them in the first place? I've also been using itunes for years and have safely deleted songs from other files, yet still have them in itunes. For my backups, I use an external hard drive... they are reasonably inexpensive these days and save a lot of hassles.

  2. I agree with !!Jack!!. It may not. I deleted some songs, and it was not playing on iTunes.

  3. iTunes is just a way to display songs so that you can play them all from one place instead of searching through files to find the songs.

If you delete the songs from where they are saved in the computer, in your case, My Documents, then iTunes will not be able to find the song and then will display the exclaimation mark. Sorry!
