Will the state get in touch with you regarding your efforts to secure a job if you're collecting unemployment benefits? If so, how far into unemployment do they check and do they ask only a few weeks worth of contacts you made or for the whole time you're unemployed. Also, will they call the companies you supply? Answers from people who are/have collected unemployment will be appreciated. Thanks all....

  1. They randomly audit unemployment recipients. If you are chosen for an audit, you'll have to supply your logs of everywhere you applied, and they will verify the information.

  2. I can't tell what you to hear, because each State is different. You can go in and ask for hand out booklet of your States policies.

    Good Luck

  3. They will make you submit the names and numbers of all the companies you applied.  They will call some of those companies to confirm you put in a application.  If they find you lied to them about where you put in application they will cut off you unemployment and you will not be able to reapply for it (or any other aid) for 3 years
