  1. The Sun will eventually collapse into itself and explode into a Super-Nova. Well before that it will become a giant red star and Earth will be uninhabitable.


  2. No, the sun will eventually swell and expand, growing larger and hotter, until the Earth becomes so hot the oceans boil dry and the planet is rendered barren and sterile. This won't happen for another half a billion to a billion years though. After that, when the sun leaves its main sequence and becomes a red giant (5-6 billion years hence), the inner planets, including Earth, will be incinerated entirely.
