Will the tennis master, Roger Federer shine ever again?

For a period of four years stretching from 2003 - 2007, the tennis fans all over the world experienced some delightful exhibit of absolute supremacy in the game of tennis. Roger Federer, the tennis master almost triumphed in majority of the matches he contested during that period. Just one man looked to have Federer’s number, the 2010 grass court Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal. However, that was just on the clay court. Grand Slam trophies were a matter of convention. During that stretch, the final score of most of the Grand Slam major matches concluded favouring the big man, Roger Federer in the end. This happened over and over again on several occasions.

However, as far as the recent past is concerned, the story that first depicted Federer as the hero of the game has now taken a new turn. According to the analysts, Federer’s recent performances show that his reign is going to end soon. The Swiss tennis ace was hammered down by Robin Soderling at the French Open championship this year in the quarterfinal stage of the clay court contest. It also concluded Federer's streak of twenty three semi final appearances in a row. However, most of the Federer lovers said that the big man will come back strongly in the grass court Grand Slam Tournament at the All England Club. Having confidence in their tennis star, Federer, the analysts also viewed that, “Wimbledon will definitely end with opposite results, right? However, the reality turned out to be actually opposite than their predictions in the end.

During the first round of the grass court Grand Slam championship, Roger Federer just fell short of losing the game. The man struggled hard from the start of the tournament and as a result ultimately fell down in the quarterfinal stage by Tomas Berdych.

The experts are concerned over the fact as how to put his recent performances? Is Roger Federer, the King of the Grand Slam tournaments, on the decline of his professional life? In the shortest possible answer, YES! However, there is a need to put it in the right manner.

Federer made it extremely complicated on him by yielding an exceptional run of victory. He actually made every one believe that he cannot be knocked down by any one, as he hardly loses. He always managed to triumph in one manner or the other.

"He has simply set such a ludicrous speed over the last few years that he has actually become a victim of his own victory," said by one of the tennis commentators, Pam Shriver in ESPN. He managed to do that ensuring his fitness level on majority of the occasions.

It's catching up to Federer at the moment. As good as Federer played over the years, it's really tough to maintain that performance on consistent basis for a longer period of time, particularly in a sports like tennis where success and defeat are just millimetres away.

After his defeat in the Wimbledon quarter final match, Federer said that health problems are affecting his game.

"I am facing difficulties as a result of my back as well as leg problems. It's annoying to say the least. When you're in pain, you cannot play at your very best. You can't actually focus on every single point because it hurts critically at times while playing".

Handling his fitness issues along with the busy schedule will be a critical part of Federer's professional life as it drops down. However, it is still not fair to simply neglect him seeing his current performances. There is no doubt about the fact that Roger Federer is capable of doing “The Best” on the courts of tennis. Will he be able to win the upcoming US Open championship is another burning question in the current scenario. However, those who believe that he will finish his professional life without grabbing any other major title, are most definitely wrong. Once his injury is fixed, Federer will once again challenge for the Grand Slams. The tennis master is gradually on his way out and has not given up. He won't be dead either. Rather he will just disappear into the sunset.
