Will the upcomming technology will demolish the comet coming towards the earth?

Not an easy question.  You don't want to "demolish" (as in blast) the thing.  You may end up with lots of little pieces coming to Earth.

What you want to do is nudge it a little so its trajectory changes just enough for it to miss the Earth.  What would be ideal is to change it so, as it passes by, it is deflected by the Earth's gravity into the Sun.

We have plenty of time before 2029 and after all it will probably miss us.

Haven't you seen Armageddon?  We could probably do something close to that.  May not be the best way, but it could get the job done.  Plus its only '08.  We have plenty of time to develop more destructive weapons.  The sad part is that we probably have enough nuclear weapons right now to actually cause some damage.
