Question:

Will the voters give OSU a break?

If OSU was to loose to USC on Sept 13th, and then win out the rest of their schedule; will voters give them the nod over the SEC champ? If I was a voter, I think that I would have to go with the SEC champ, as OSU is unproven against top 5 OOC opponents..(1-4 record since 2001) What do you think?

  1. It depends. We'll have to see where the other teams shake out. I think if OSU wins all their games (sans USC), that means they defeated Wisconsin and Illinois. Those are about the only two formidable opponents in the conference. They do have to play Penn State, but (rolls eyes) they're not as good as they have been in the recent past.

Soooo, based on their schedule, the issue would probably lie in how they stack up to others. I don't know how hard the USC schedule is (can't be all that hard - they're in the Pac 10 haha) and then they have Mizzou and Georgia to worry about and those two teams both play in tough conferences.

If spite has anything to do with it, I could see the voters putting them back in for kicks and giggles if there are no other clear options.

  2. Overrated State University?  I think if they lose to USC pretty early in the season they are in trouble even if they win out due to their recent blunders against top rated teams.  I would give the nod to the SEC champs as well.  I'm tired of seeing OSU suck up national championship games.

  3. When people talk about OSU being overrated they only go back a few years, Check the history books, people. The Buckeyes have been having great seasons and then losing in big bowl games for at least 40 years. Same with Michigan. This is nothing new.

  4. The Bucs need to win out. Pure and simple. Prediction is the winner of the Florida/Georgia "cocktail party" will receive a nod, and they both have much tougher schedules than OSU. So winning the Big 10 is not going to be enough this year. They need to run the table.

  5. The only team that can get away with having one loss and making the BCS championship is Notre Dame.

  6. Hahahahahasnort*hahahahahaha

  7. As an SEC fan, I would agree with you, but polls and votes depend on win-loss record.  according to most, OSU biggest chance for a loss is against USC. unless michigan can do something

compare that with Georgia, who has to play Florida, LSU, Auburn, Arizona State,  and not to mention other tough SEC teams like Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina plus the SEC championship game.  probably not going to be a 1 loss team here (you can say that for most SEC teams, but I think UGA will have the toughest schedule)

So unfortunately, you probably will see OSU in the championship game again because they will be the only 1 loss team in the country because they have a weak conference and have no conference title game.  plus, when OSU loses to USC, it will only be the 2nd game of the year and losses don't hurt you as much early on as it does later.

  8. You never stop do you? Ohio State must win every game to reach national championship. A loss to USC will knock them out of the title game. A 1 loss season will put them in a BCS bowl though i believe

-- You are just beating a dead horse here. We get the point- You hate OSU. I hate Michigan but you don't see me writing 4000 word rants on why I dislike them. Why are you filled with nothing but negative thoughts? Ill say it again, find something more productive with your life.

  9. Wouldn't giving them a break mean NOT putting them at the top? I hope the SEC Champ would move above OSU, but I fear they wouldn't.
