It will end for America and Britain when their soldiers are brought home.  Alive, not in flag-draped coffins.  The civil war, the Kurdish freedom struggle, etc, which started long before - before Saddam, in fact - will go on, just as it did before, just as it does now.

Bloody waste of British lives.

Put Bush and Blair on trial at the Hague.

the fighting among the Iraqis will never end, but our involvement will go on as long as the powers that be can make it.

Remember, the USA is spending $400 a second in iraq on CONTRACTORS ALONE, so there is big profit in this phony baloney war

probably not for another couple of years. in 5 years if the war is still on i will fight it with the united states Marine Corps. i will join it when i'm 18

Historically yes.

A typical insurgency lasts about nine years until it is fully quelled and Iraq is already ahead of schedule. The government is already moving on and the people are sick of war and are going to stand up for themselves. Reconstruction is already ahead of schedule in most parts of iraq and money is being infused into the economy (which creates jobs and thus a willingness to support the government).

Historically Iraq is a very small war that has just been drawn out (because of its limited nature). The person who said something about Vietnam in any way comparison is not only misinformed but insulting to those who had to deal with the monstrosity and the total backstab which was Vietnam. Please do not speak unless you know what you are talking about.

As for worrying about Iraq, if such a small sacrifice (in a statistical comparison of actual cost to both soldier and civilian) is going to shatter this much confidence, what are they going to do when there is a "real" war. A war with China over Taiwan is not out of the question and neither are more wars in the middle east. This is a different world than it ever was before (and in that world over 100,000,000 people died directly from war in less than 100 years).
