when i'm not supporting my own team i tend to support the team with which i have the closest personal connections.

(though i sometimes support a team for the sheer excellence of their rugby).

in the wales / fiji match i was totally unable to make up my mind. wales is my home team, but i honestly thought fiji would give south africa a better match (and i still do).

if it is an england / south africa final - i have strong personal connections with both countries.

I have worked with many taffs and sweaties and know most of them hate the English, but not enough to stop taking English tax payers money.

They want their independence but don't realise they would be broke if we stopped giving them our money and most of the people would no longer receive their dole and all the other benefits they're given by us.

I'm Welsh and I will be supporting England.  For two reasons:

1) My partner is English and he'd be delighted if they won!

2) I always support fellow UK teams if Wales are not playing.

Pay no attention to the ignorant people spouting their nonsense.  I don't "hate the English" and I wish the chip-on-shoulder brigade wouldn't try to speak for everyone in Wales

If you all didn't knock us so much wouldn't life be better? This small island has enough people globally hating it without us all hating one another.

why try and portray them, have you looked in the scottish soccer section. thing is the english do not care what anybody thinks about them never have done and never will. wheras the other british nations are always harping on about english this english that. i never support any other countries except england if we are no longer participating in an event i lose interest and would never fiegn interest to appease others.

Well, since you couldn't even be kind enough to capitalise Welsh or Scottish I think you can accurately anticipate the answer.

Perhaps since you so rarely support any other Nation than yourselves then I see no need to be supportive in return.  

And if you consider that England regards itself as a far superior nationality I cannot forsee your need of any outside support.  

Your self-interest will be all the support you need.

I respect those people in the rest of the British countries that are willing to support England. It's nice to know that those people don't hold grudges and are NOT sore losers!

The ones that are giving all the bull, it's not like we really need your support anyway. Your 'support' is not going to determine who wins... nobody really cares how c**p you think our team is, we're into the finals so that kind of proves how wrong you must be. We've actually got somewhere, so try and act happy! we are all British after all, i would've thought we should all be supporting each other (unless we were against each other). what are your opinions to us really? it's like your trying to start arguments over this. We don't hurt from what you say about us English, we're just being proud of our team! =)

It's not the welsh who's the problem and im sick of people saying we have a chip on our shoulders . WE MIGHT HAVE A CHIP but if english people for once treated us with respec then we just might do the same back. The english caused this problme so if they wan't to sort it they can we won't be making an effort

For the record I really don't mind.

I really respected Andrew Murray for not supporting the English football team in 2006.  And I especially enjoyed Argentina v Scotland.

They are very well balanced nations, a chip on each shoulder.
