Will the wind of change blow for Terriers in the 2012 season? Volleyball News

The St. Francis College (NY) women's volleyball team appeared in a total of 32 matches during the 2011 season and ended up with a devastating 1-31 record.
The St. Francis Terriers failed to break the ice in the conference play and finished with 0-16 record. They played 10 matches at home and 13 away from home, but claimed just one victory. All in all, the team had a pretty bad season and displayed extremely
poor performance.
However, the 2012 season is just around the corner and the St. Francis is supposed to kick off the regular season on Friday, August 24. Terriers’ schedule is heavily dominated by home games as the team will play 16 matches on the home soil.
SFC Terrier Invitational, which will be featured as the first non-conference tournament on the schedule, will be a perfect opportunity for hosts to take good start in the season. The home team will be playing at familiar court and emotional support of local
fans will serve as a plus point. Terriers will be challenged by visiting teams from Rider, Radford, University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES Hawks), NJIT, Lafayette Leopards, and Hofstra University.
The UMES will be the toughest competitor for Terriers in the competition. The Hawks clawed their way to the NCCA tournament last year. Anthony J. Genovesi Center will host the Terrier Invitational from August 24-25.
Following the home campaign, Terriers will travel to Hempstead, New York, where they will take part in the Hofstra University Invitational. St. Francis Terriers will go against Princeton University Tigers in the first match of the tournament. Next up, the
visiting Terriers will collide with the hosts Hofstra. In the third and last match of the tournament, Siena Saints will come into contest with St. Francis.
On September 5th, Terriers will host Saint Peter’s College volleyball team in Brooklyn Heights.
Before the start of conference play, Terriers will take part in two more tournaments: St. John’s Classic and Lafayette Invitational. After the regular tournaments, conference matches will start off. Eventually, the season will be ended with two matches of
Northeast Conference Championships.
Micah Acoba, who is entering his third year as the head coach of the St. Francis women's volleyball program, has high hopes about the improved performance of his team. Speaking of the 2012 schedule, he stated: “We are excited for the 2012 season,” Acoba
said. “We feel that we put together a challenging schedule that we hope will prepare us for conference play.”
Let's wait and see if the wind of change blows for Terriers. Visit again to stay updated.
