i know its a little out there but i think about this from time to time. if we continue to bury our dead eventually, and im talking millions of years or more, wont the world run out of space? like the world will just be one huge cemetery. another example would be like the sports hall of fames. they keep getting bigger because every year more athletes get inducted. again, millions of years from now, the world will run out of room for these unless they get rid of the old athletes shrines. am i right?

  1. No... the thing about being dead, is that bodies decay.  If you think about it... every piece of ground that you see or walk on is probably from the decomposition of something.  We're sitting on millions of years worth of dirt, I don't think any of it has been untouched.  We just turn into dust eventually... so if you think about it... everything you're touching was something that was dead at some point.

And I think sports will evolve into something else, where our far off descendants will come to the sports hall of fame, and regard it like we would regard Stonehenge.

I imagine what would cause us to run out of room, would probably be those Styrofoam cups from Starbucks being thrown away... or all those bazillion Cd's for a free AOL membership, laying about.

  2. Well i'm pretty sure we won't be around y the time millions of years come by...and if we were, most of the worlds elements (erosion and natural forces) would recycle the coffins, bodies, and all back into the environment it basically why we don't see a ton of dinosaur skeletons...there's only those lucky few that have their corpse survive time.

  3. Sure the world just might run out of room. But, nature and disease  and things like was tend to lower the levels of population..

The earth is in a constant cycle. Eventually the desert becomes grass lands and the wealth of greenery and growth willl change. a

Humans will surrive and we redesign what you wee need to

  4. Lol, well thankfully mother anture helps this problem by breaking down the remains of the dead. We all return to what we were made of- mother earth pretty much. Its basic science...

  5. I think that's a decent question, and that does tend to make sense. Because the world does seem to keep growing and growing and more and more people are born each day and minute. I have heard of talk, I think it's stupid and don't think it will happen, but there's been talk that people will start moving to Mars. That's a little bit of a joke, but for quite some time it won't happen.

That's just my opinion, hope this helped. :D

  6. I think as the years go by people will actually look more into this and find a solution for the 'commodities'.  Maybe people will be more open to cremation and start doing that.  Maybe they'll blast off the bodies into space.  Or maybe they'll being storing them in caskets above the ground and just keep stacking them up on top of each other.  Or they'll come up with a shrinking machine and beam the bodies into smaller ones.

When I first read your question I thought that you meant something like overpopulation.  I was very ready to answer that question....
