  1. teams with that large of a fanbase will NEVER relocate, they will never leave the american league so they will never do anything more than see each other in the ALCS, even though thats unlikely in itself.

  2. What!?  Nobody's heard the rumors of Bud Selig's double-secret realignment plan?  I heard from a guy who heard from a guy whose sister is going out with a guy who has a cousin that's close to a niece of somebody who's supposedly pretty high up in MLB that the Mayan calendar that runs out in 2012 forecasts a displacement of the earth's crust that will move the equator roughly 20 degrees north.  When that happens NY and Boston will be tropical paradises, except underwater, since the oceans will rise about 300' with all the ice in Greenland melting.  This will force all but a handful of teams to move further inland and to higher ground.  That will finally give them an excuse for serious realignment.  When that happens, they'll make sure there's a chance that the Yankees and Red Sox can play each other in the round robin double-elimination world series tournament (another part of the plan, Bud's favorite).

  3. That is ridiculous.  Neither team will become a National League Team.  They ave been in the AL forever.  They both sell out every game.  MLB would never change what those 2 cities have.

  4. Nope, to big of a division rivalry for mlb to split them up, and BTW neither of those two teams are even going to the playoffs this year.

  5. Unless a team switches leagues-like Milwaukee, No.

  6. The Yankees and Red Sox have always been American League teams. I doubt either one of them switches leagues.

And unless that happens or MLB decides to alter the playoff structure (such as seeding playoff teams 1 through 8 regardless of which league they're in), it will never happen.

    Sorry.

  7. well unless they send one of em to NL nope

  8. Not unless one of them moves to the Senior Circuit. =)

  9. no unless either team changes to the NL or they made 4 leagues or something

  10. Crimany, I thought the "what should I wear to a game" was about the dumbest question today, but I stand corrected.

  11. Um no.

  12. Probably not. If and when baseball expands to 32 teams, they are going to have to find a place to put the two new teams. This could be as simple as dropping them both in the AL, or, as some people have theorized: Divisional Realignment. The plan below is fairly conservative compared with some other ideas out there, but I don't think anyone would break up the Yanks and Sox, if only for financial purposes. And as long as they are in the same division, they are never going to meet in the World Series.

  13. No, the Yankees and Red Sox are both in the American League.

  14. no

  15. i dought it cuz then it wud be a (sometimes) definite AL or NL champ, but maybe in the future it cud happen

  16. Only if one of the two move to the NL.

The only logical option I can think of is the NY Mets moving to the AL and the NY Yankees moving to the AL, the Yankees and Mets are far too popular to move to another state.

  17. It is only possible if they make one team in another league.....i doubt that would happen. That is an amazing series if it could though

  18. umm.. NO

  19. Only one team since 1901 has switched leagues, and that was Milwaukee in 1998.  A team with a FRACTION of the fan base and history that either Boston or the Yankees have.

  20. uhhh...no. not unless one of the teams switched to the national league

  21. no. how?

  22. It can't be since they're in the same league.

  23. Won't happen.  Also don't forget that the old school rivals won't necessarily be the top baseball rivals years from now.  The Red Sox biggest rival of the future could be the Rays or vice versa with the Yankees.

  24. The yankees and the redsox are the two least teams in all of MLB that would relocate. However, you never know whats going to happen 100, 200, or even 500 years down the road. Could the sox and yankees meet in a world series someday? I'd say its not entirely impossible, but probably wont happen in your lifetime.

  25. Only if one of the teams change to NL

That would be an interesting WS though =]
