remember when they were counted out a couple of yrs back. the daily news were printing they were out since june! and they made it! and they wasnt even in the wild card!! so dont count them out just yet. their the yankees. just when you think its over they prove you wrong!!!

They could at the Wild Card. They're 5 1/2 back in the AL East and 2 1/2 back of the Wild Card. In order for them to make it, they need consistent production out of pitching and hitting. Otherwise, they are most likely done.

Well you have the TB Rays up by 5 games and they are playing good baseball. So unless something really turns on for the Yankees who are 5-5 out of their last 10, they are not catching up.

So let's look at the Wild card. Redsox might suffer a downturn via Manny Ramirez, who are likewise playing 5-5 ball. The Whitesox can't be counted out at 61-49 who can still catch the Twins, who are playing 7-3 ball.

So out of

3. Yankees

Who has the best shot? Yeah I like the Yankees to make it as a wildcard.

I doubt it this year.  They're pitching is weaker with Wang out and Posada too.  The Rays are still way too far ahead.  They're only chance is if Bay really screws up in a Red Sox uni which so far he hasn't.

yeah theyll make it.... there offence is incredible, but there pitching.. not so much.  They have Joba, Mussina, and Pettite pitching very well right now, lets hope they hold. Once they get in, expect themto win a series or two, but get ousted  against the dreaded red sox:@

They are a very talented team but struggled early in the season but I say they can't this year because the Tampa Bay Rays are really into it even the Red Sox are having a hard time catching up with them

A lot of have changed since the deadline and the Yankees just outslugged the Angels. Momentum could be shifting in their direction since they obtained Pudge Rodriguez. Even more, the Yankee-killer(Manny) is now playing for the Dodgers and the Rays doesn't have that much of a lead over the A.L. East. Five or six games? It's not the first time the Yankees came from behind.

If the Yankees starting rotation stay consistent, I can see them going into the playoffs, maybe even winning the division. My prediction is that the Rays will lose some critical games, leaving the Red Sox standing in their way.
