It's now looking very scary in the caucasus region of the world and I personally believe it's the Russians way of saying to the west, we still have military might and we shall not tolerate you in our backyards. What do you think will happen? do you believe it's looking bad or is this only a rattling of sabres?

  1. OORAH SEND THE USMC!!!

  2. yay world war 3 is starting!! :)

  3. Well, apparently so. Russia has sent tanks across the border, Georgia is claiming it has shot down many Russian fighter/bombers.

  4. yes they already invaded georgia i saw it this morning on the news

  5. South Osetia is an unrecognised republic. Georgia attacked it killing thousands of civialians and wiping out almost all of 3000 soldiers South Osetia had. With the reports of ethnical cleanings and georgian soldiers firing at UN peacekeeping troops, Russian Military command send in Russian troops to South Osetia, that lead to immediate georgian retreat.

    GEORGIA IS AN AGGRESSOR.

  6. Sure could be!

Here we go again!  Yet another war!

  7. Yeah its looking that way, im just pleased Georgia arent in NATO or they would end up dragging us all into it :)

  8. Russia is attacking Georgia because of its' Democracy and wanting to join NATO.  They are trying to see if they can get away with reclaiming these provinces and the next step will be to overthrow the current president.

This is no coincidence that they are attacking during the election and Olympics.  They wanted a distraction.

I hope it doesn't turn into a war but we need to put enormous pressure on Russia to back off, otherwise, there will be a war.

To Rogergly: Georgia is pro-American, pro-Democracy, and we currently have a little over a hundred US troops there so it concerns us greatly.

  9. You tell me over and over and over again my friends. You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. 1960s deja vu?

  10. Russia is a terrible aggressor. They do everything to destroy Georgia and punish them for their pro-western course. This is all to stop it from joining NATO because they believe Georgia and other ex-ussr countries still "belong" to them. This is all happening in XXI century. That is what European appeasement brings.

  11. Plowmaster is right, Russia needed to fight before Georgia was accepted into NATO. Georgia has a shockingly large number of troops in Iraq, so that they will be able to join. Now I guess we will all have to wait and see just how far the two nations want to take it. Georgia has troops trained by us, and I don't think this is going to end up being to large scale of  a war, meaning they might be able to hold their own. Afghanistan did it....

  12. Looks like war to me.

However, it is an internal war.

Some-one needs to inform Pres Bush that it is Georgia in the old USSR and not Georgia in the USA that has been attacked.

He might want to press a button or two; I would hate to see the world go radio active in ''friendly fire'' and ''collateral damage''.

  13. And here all along I thought Georgia had a beef with Alabama.  Go figure

  14. Frightening times are upon us again.....

  15. this is a very disturbing escalation and very serious, we have to wait and see what the reaction from the west will be. hold on to your hats.

  16. It looks bad, the Georgians have said "many dead" that does not sound good at all. I do wish someone would get on the phone to the two of them to stop and talk.

    War is stupid

  17. Military might? They already lost two fighters, and are still on the outskirts of the city.  They have made no advance.  Georgia is free of the big bad wolf, if they want to make friends with Europe and the west they can.  Isn't that their right?  This is clearly Russian aggression because the governments of their border states don't like and don't trust them, so now they are sad.

Shutting off the flow of heating fuel in the dead of winter, because they don't like your politics, and threatening others with military action if they make allies with states they don't like doesn't inspire trust amoung your neighbours, just ask the Israel.  I hope Georgia kicks their interfering as$, without the help of the US, that would give me a good laugh.

  18. The War has begun the question is how far does it spread.  Russia knew once NATO membership achieved they would not be able to wage this war.

  19. Russia's president promised to defend Russian citizens in South Ossetia.

sounds remarkably similar to what that lunatic karadzic said about bosnian serbs not so long ago

    not good is it
