  1. Very unlikely. Supersonic planes consumes a lot of jet fuel. At today's fuel prices, one would be mad to design another supersonic jetliner unless it has revolutionary technology that uses up less fuel than other airliners...

Many planes these days have very long range and can travel non-stop halfway round the world... so almost every airport is reachable within 20-22 hours max.

A long range supersonic jet may get you there in 8-10 hours but the fare would probably be 5 times more. few travellers will be willing to do that at this moment

  2. Hi

Is very difficult thing a aircraft will replace the king of the supersonic sky.

Gulfstream Aerospace of Savannah, GA has a SSBJ, super sonic business jet, in the design stage. Gulfstream now produces the top of the line business jets. They've yet to commit to production because they need a risk sharing partner for the engines. But there is much interest in the business aviation community. They think that with the proper design and smaller size, they will be able to negate the effects of the sonic boom with the idea that they will be able to fly faster than Mach one over land. That's a great deal what killed the Concord. Not being allowed to fly supersonic accept over the ocean. It greatly limited it's market especially from Europe to the Pacific Rim.

  3. Only when they can come up with something that makes more sense than that idiotic monstrosity did. Like it needs to make money?

  4. Not likely.  Though the Concorde was an impressive achievement, it used way too much fuel to move too few passengers and cargo.

  5. Not likely.  NASA did more research in the 90s into supersonic air travel.  The conclusion?  The problems of high fuel consumption and the sonic boom problems were insurmountable with current technology.  We are not likely to see another supersonic airliner.  The Concorde was not successful and does not merit a follow up..The Concorde program was a debacle.  The contract called for whichever party decided to cancel the project incurred all cost at the time of cancellation. Once it was realized that no planes would be sold neither France nor Britain wanted to cancel and then have to pay for everything.  They completed 20 planes, gave 16 of them to their two national airlines and took a 12 billion dollar loss.  The Concordes were operated mostly at a loss for thirty years.  With ticket prices 5 times more than a normal flight only the rich and famous could ever afford to fly on the craft.

The next great leap in air travel will be hypersonic and suborbital and probably not in the near future.

  6. Yes there will.  It doesn't need a droop nose (  :-(   ) sadly, but it uses cameras.  That is all I know about it.  I MISS CONCORDE!

  7. something similar to the concorde will never be created

people are already developing aircraft going higher and faster than the concorde while being very efficient. we have the tech for commercial aircraft near space flight at mach 5

what remains is the issue of fuel and the issue of demand.

  8. There won't be any for a while because of fuel consumption but now they are working on an SST that would use hydrogen fuel, better consumption, and less emissions.
