  1. I don't work in a weather center, but I lived in KY most of my life, as well as have studied weather. You live in Louisville? If you're closer to the city center, then most likely you won't be hit by anything more than rain, or maybe some small hail. If you're on the outskirts, you need to keep an eye on the skies, but again it's not very likely that there will be a tornado in your area.

  2. Go to the site www.weatherbug.com they have great weather maps.  Another site you can try is www.NOAA.gov, the federal government website, but I prefer the first one the maps are much better.  We live in Indiana and we were under a wtach earlier too, tornadoes freak me out also. Good luck!

  3. Hi - Louisville, Ky here and true, we are under a tornado watch.  I do not work at the weather center, but have lived here for bunches of years!

A watch simply means conditions are right for the possibility of a tornado - it does not mean there will be one.

We are in the tornado season now, and it will run until fall.  But you don't have to worry about it until we start getting tornado warnings.  Keep a tv on, they will let you know as soon as the weather service tells them.  Channels 4, 5, and 6 if you have Insight) keep updated.

Make sure you have a safe place to go, such as a basement.

If no basement, get into a bathtub when a warning is going on.

    Take your cellphone with you.

If you are home for summer vacation, call your parents if you are really scared.

  4. Well, weather is constantly changing. So you need to look for the signs,go to weather.com and type in your zip code,or you can keep your TV on the weather channel. I know the storms this morning were pretty bad,and loud, but honestly,I doubt it,southern Indiana always gets the shaft when any weather comes through the Ohio valley. If you are worried, just get prepared, already have a place set to go if the alarm does sound. Use your worry, and be productive.
