and it will be made into TWO movies.

the same three people who adapted the Lord of the Rings books into movies will be doing the same for the Hobbit.

Guermo Del Torro the guy who made h**l Boy is making 2 hobbit movies. Ian Mackelin (Ganadalf) and Andy Serkis(Gollum) are already onboard. James Macavoy (from Wanted) is rumored to play bilbo. It is supposed to come out 2012 and 2013

Well, The Lord of the Rings was just the three stories....but Tolkien did write many stories about the earlier times of Middle Earth.  His son has actually managed to compile them into one story, The Children of Húrin.  I expect that this may be made into a movie, and if so, it would be a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Lord of the Rings is a trilogy, and they've already finished the three movies. But Peter Jackson is making the Hobbit, and possibly a 'bridge' movie between the Silmorillion and the Hobbit (like about Morgoth or Sauron or something) :D

Yeah. Peter Jackson is teaming up with Guillermo del Toro (the guy who did Hellboy) to make The Hobbit, which is the first book, of course.
