I dont believe the AllBlacks loss is solely due to ref errors, but surely the mistakes must have some sort of repercusions.....

  1. Hopefully there are repercussions for him. And it wasnt just the forward pass. The McAlister binning was ridiculous. Penalty yes, binning no. Referee mistakes allowed france the opportunity for both of their tries. If he ever comes to NZ he will feel repercussions for sure. He is top of the NZ most hated list.

  2. Nope, i'm a kiwi and i'm not blaming the ref and the players shouldn't either because deep down, they know, they fell on their  own sword!

esotoric, u are wrong to say one foward pass didnt cost them the game because that foward pass was the match winner. However, refs arent to be blamed! Coaches shouldn't be blamed, they coached these bunch of bois to the best of their abilities, the players should be held accountable for bringing defeat upon themselves! A lot of wrong decisions made, a bunch of handling errors, inexperience, and the combinations didnt gel well enough!

  3. The All Blacks lost. Thats it, over and out till 2011, blame the ref???hmmm bs.

  4. repercussions......mmmm. I agree. NZ rugby has already thrown out their coach. I just finished a blog about introing video refs, who knows. the ref might not get another game but the damage's already done. the ef1jay1 v RSA ref was no better.

  5. Wayne Barnes won't ref again at this World Cup!

I agree that the AB's should have won despite the inept refereeing but WHY should they have to?  They should be able to rely on unbiased and fair refereeing and they don't get it.  The AB's are always the most strictly refereed team in any game they play.  Why is this?  Shouldn't refereeing be fair and even?

I can accept the missed forward pass as this was at pace and hard for referee and touch judges to see but to sin bin McAllister was clearly a guess by Barnes (if he saw the incident properly he would have taken no action).  Then to allow the French to be offside at every breakdown as the AB's attacked in the last 10 minutes was unacceptable.  I think he was watching the AB's to find a mistake from them instead of watching both teams to find infringements.

The biggest repercussion for the refs mistakes is that through inept and biased refereeing he has denied the All Blacks the chance to progress in the tournament.  He has left AB fans devastated and he has single handedly turned an excellent and interesting tournament into a farce.

Can you tell I am not over it yet?

  6. This match was only the seventh test match he took. Why they went for someone of his experience (or lack of), is beyond me. Perhaps they thought it was a given that the ABs were going to win, and so they apponted him to be the ref because hopefully he would'nt have seemed to have such an impact. But the match went the other way, and now he's in the spotlight.

Based on that performance, I dont think the IRB will give Wayne Barnes many more matches.

  7. its part of the game

    deal with it

its pretty poor that the "best team in the world" need to blame the ref for their WC exit

one forward pass did not cost NZ the game
