Will these pedals fit these shoes?

Shimano PD M520 SPD Clipless pedals -

Shimano R074 shoes

oh .. and do all pedals work with all bikes, ... are there different sized s***w threads or are they universal?

  1. The R074 are a road shoe and only take the SPD-SL cleat which will not fit the M520 SPD pedal.  If you want road style shoes which fits an SPD pedal you should look at the Shimano RT80.

    EDIT - Just to add to what the other guys are saying, I think some non-Shimano shoes will have multiple fittings to take different cleats.  It's always best to take the cleat with you and check it against the shoe.


  2. Silenus has the correct answer.  I second his opinion.

    Lucky Ellie on the other hand, is way off beat.

    Road shoes (eg.RO74)have a three bolt cleat fixing (the cleats are bigger)

    MTB shoes have a two bolt fixing to accommodate the smaller cleat (as your M520 would be).

    You would be very unlucky to find a pedal that won't fit your crank.  The threads are pretty much universal!
