Will these pedals fit these shoes?

Question

Shimano PD M520 SPD Clipless pedals -

Shimano R074 shoes

oh .. and do all pedals work with all bikes, ... are there different sized s***w threads or are they universal?

The R074 are a road shoe and only take the SPD-SL cleat which will not fit the M520 SPD pedal.  If you want road style shoes which fits an SPD pedal you should look at the Shimano RT80.

EDIT - Just to add to what the other guys are saying, I think some non-Shimano shoes will have multiple fittings to take different cleats.  It's always best to take the cleat with you and check it against the shoe.

Silenus has the correct answer.  I second his opinion.

Lucky Ellie on the other hand, is way off beat.

Road shoes (eg.RO74)have a three bolt cleat fixing (the cleats are bigger)

MTB shoes have a two bolt fixing to accommodate the smaller cleat (as your M520 would be).

You would be very unlucky to find a pedal that won't fit your crank.  The threads are pretty much universal!
