When I go to Start>Menu>Run, and type in "misconfig",and go to the Start-up Tab, and uncheck everything I don't want at start-up, I still might want them someday (probably tomorrow)

  1. In Startup tab of msconfig if you uncheck the entries you are simply disabling the program from starting on its own, each and every time you turn on the system. The program will still be there in your system. Also one can very well undo the changes the msconfig any time in future

  2. Yes, you are right. The programs will be available to you whenever you want. msconfig only stops them from starting when the computer turns on. But you can always chose to start the program manually whenever you please...plus you can go back to msconfig and re-check the programs you want to start if doing it manually becomes too much of a hassle.

  3. if you want them tomorrow.. just go to Start >Run> type in msconfig and then on the Startup Tab re-check them ;) Unchecking doesn't delete the entries. The entries will be still there, unchecked, when you want them to start up again tomorrow :)

  4. When you uncheck an entry in msconfig, the entry stays there, just unchecked.  The file the entry points to is never even touched.

In other words, not to worry about restoring it if you need it.

    Hope that helps.
