Hi,

We are currently working on our K1 visa and everything should be fine so far but recently she started having chest pains and the doctor said it is angina. Will she be denied her visa because of this?

  1. I seriously doubt this as, in this day and age, they let people with extremely contagious diseases into this country.

Years ago all immigrants had to go through a physical in order to be admitted in.  Today it makes no difference even if they've got HIV/AIDS.

    Such a shame.

  2. She wont get her visa denied. The US has some regulations regarding health and they want to monitor the health of all people who will come to the US as residents or future residents.

It's a stupid system, let me tell you. I lived in Florida for 7 years with an F1 and then an H1-B visa and it wasn't until I applied for my residence that they required from me a health examination. I had been living here for 7 years!!! What would have been the point of an examination after all that time? If I would have had something very contagious, don't you think it's a little bit late? Good luck.

  3. Angina is an indication of a serious heart ailment.  If she is under 50 and having angina, something could be quite wrong.  And if she is under 40, this is most unusual and I would be very concerned about her medical prognosis.  She shouldn't be admissible because she has a potentially debilitating & disabling health condition which could lead to her becoming a public charge.

More important for you -- the stress of relocating to another country is so very much higher than just "moving," which is the second-highest stressor of all life events.  Angina can be aggravated by high stress.  It really is NOT in her best interests to have her move to another country.  The move alone could trigger major heart problems.  If you care about her and her health at all, abandon your plans for her immigration.  Perhaps you could join her there.

If you decide to risk pursuing her immigration and she is approved despite the angina, make sure you have health insurance coverage which will cover her despite her pre-existing condition in an amount of at least a million dollars .  Cardiac care is very expensive and she probably needs major surgery(s) within the next 2 - 4 years.

  4. she will not be denied. what they are looking for are communicable diseases and should the applicant have one they can still be given the visa if undergoing treatment.

so ibu thinks you should not bring her to a country that is the leader in heart medicine and treatment.  i was diagnosed with angina, which lead to a heart attack and then to quad by pass surgery, that was 15 years ago.
