  1. Yes they will hire you even without experience because it is hard to find good help.  But please be sure to let them know you have no experience so they can show you how to properly do things, handle the horses, etc.  Barn safety is a must for you, your co-workers, and the horses.  If you lie about your experience and an accident happens that hurts you, a horse, or a co-worker you can probably expect to be fired.  I  really can't say they are biased but you will have to prove yourself.  If I can answer any other questions, etc. you can contact me at bigandrichgal@yahoo.com

  2. yes, but you must be hard working!!!!!

  3. yes.

If you have a good work ethic and are able to get up early (usually 7 days a week); just about anyone can do it.

Beginners are known as "green" meaning they haven't spent much or any time around horses; they usually start by mucking stalls, cleaning feed tubs and water buckets, filling up water buckets (if the farm does not have automatic waterers) raking the shed, unloading hay, or walking hots at the race track.

Great lifestyle if you like animals and waking up early.

EDIT: If you are female, chances are there will be no bias; many females as well as resident ailens work with horses, it is very common. As a matter of fact, be careful, some barns you may have a BETTER chance of getting the job if you are female.

EDIT 2: Horsemen usually know each other fairly well, hence, they often know if another stable is good or not; if you don't know, you just check them out, do the people working there seem ok? maintance? Do the horses look like they are taken care of, ... do they pay a competitive wage? ask yourself these questions, shouldn't be too hard to figure out, not too unlike many other businesses.

  4. If they are a serious racing stable no, because those animals are very important and expensive!
