I have a 4 week class and then get certified. It says the prequests are 200 yards which i can do but I pulled a muscle REAL bad so by the second week of class I could do this. Will they kick me out the first day if I dont pass the prequests?Or does it not matter until you actualy take the certifiction test at the end of the class?

  1. No, go and get a medical certificate

  2. No they wont kick you out just tell them what happened they will understand

  3. They'll give you a pre-test.  If you can't pass it the instructor gets to decide whether or not to allow you to continue with the class.  Based on what you've said, the instructor will probably let you continue with the class.  You should get tested at the end of the class either way.  Just be open and honest with the instructor and do your best.

  4. No I don't think they'll kick you out - your reason is valid.

  5. It all depends on who you are taking your class with. They usually are called prereqs becasue they want to see you perform them before they allow you to continue with the class. However some places/people can be understanding and are willing to work with you, espically if you have some sort of swimming background.

Another idea is if it is a leg muscle you could try to swim the 200 with arms only, or kicking with only 1 leg. Keep in mind though that many lifeguard classes make you tread water while stabilizing a victim in deep water so if it is a leg muscle you may have problems with this also.

It might be better to reschedule for a later starting class.
