  1. I am currently meeting with autistic children on the weekends and they all amaze me. Each one has a different level of autism and I don't think you will be rejected based solely on that. If you are then you just try a different college and sue. LOL Okay well on a more serious note the colleges look at test scores and GPAs if yours are high then I wouldn't worry but if you are concerned you may have problems then try a Jr. College first and take one class at a time until you feel comfortable. Most financial aid want at least 6 hrs. which is considered half time. 2 classes. Take what you feel comfortable with and while I will say not all autistic children will have the chance to go to college they are finding out more levels of autism and aspergers is one of them very high intelligence and high functioning, it all depends on you. Go for it hon. Good Luck

  2. Plenty of autistic people have gone to university.  I read an article in "Discover" about this woman that got her PhD in animal husbandry.  Farms from all around would hire her to design the milking pens.  She was always able to improve production after designing for a farm.

On the other hand, what makes you think YOU are autistic?  You can be gifted in music w/o being autistic or having Williams Syndrome.

  3. if you have great grades and the money or can get scolarships you will get into school. There are people who are docters, lawyers and other things whom have autism and they have it. keep sending in your forms . You can do it.

  4. If you meet their usual criteria, they cannot exclude you because of a disability.  They may have some special programs for you, though.

  5. It would be HIGHLY illegal for them to refuse you admission based on a diagnosis (or suspicion?) of autism.  The ADA protects people from this kind of discrimination.

  6. It's against the law to prevent you from attending a university.

  7. Edit: Oops.

  8. okay i've said this once and i will say it again only you can limit you as for college if you got the grades and can do the work there is no reason why you couldn't go or shouldn't go they can not legally stop you if you meet their educational requirments if college is what you want then go for it. But before saying you are autistic get checked first maybe it is something else

  9. Of course you can go.  You can go to any college you want.  I actually have a couple friends with ASD.  They have aspergers syndrome which is high funtioning autism..One graduated  high school in june and is going to the University of Michigan the other one is graduating this year and has already been accepted to three different colleges (USC, UCLA, and University of Arizona).  So please do  not let the fact that you  may be autistic prevent you from trying.  You should go get tested...for autism its not too late..and there are so many agencies and scholorships out there that can help you with all your needs financially and emotionally.  Good Luck. Im waiting to hear your music being played on the radio. :)

  10. i bet they would let you go if you were autistic.  man i think you should go. imagine what your beautiful brain could do with all that stuff.

  11. Of course. You can also take your IEP to the university when you go for advisement. Your advisor will help you locate the department at the university which handles students with disabilities. They must provide you with the same accommodations that you are receiving one your IEP.

  12. they will! and you should go!
