Question:

Will they let me use my old eyeglass prescription?

My vision has not changed in many many years, I do not have time to go to the eye doctor. Why won't the vision place let me get new glasses? Mine are falling apart, but I just can't take time off from work to visit the doctor.

I think my prescription is over a year or two old

  1. because they want a doctor to say that yes, in fact, your eyes are the same and same lenses can be used.

There is time for anything if you make time. Find an eye doctor that is open late. Mine is open until 6 on some days!

  2. If your rx is less than 2 years old you former eye doctor should release the RX to you. I believe it is the law in the US. Call theml and find out. If it is over 2 years, I think it is illegal in most states to fill it. Most practicioners are not willing to loose their liscenses to fill an expired RX.  Call your last Doctor and see when the Rx was written and if it is still unexpired!

  3. They wont' take the prescription but if the lens are in good shape just pick out some new frames and have them put the lens in them.  The optical companies in the mall will do that, my dog ate my frames once so  I have done it myself.

  4. if u r not changing ur lenses thn u don't need a prescription for jst mending ur lenses, dude! yeah but if u r willing to change the lenses thn u need a new prescription is required, they won't rely on the old one!

  5. Generally, no one will just refill your prescription without doing an exam. You say your vision has not changed, however, there many be some very minute changes that can only be discerned by a trained eye practitioner. It's in your best interest to have your eyes examined thoroughly.
