Will they pay for my college?

My dad said that the military pays for your college, right, but he didn't go to college and he says they should pay for mine, since I'm his child, it could be passed to me. Is this true? If so, will they pay for all 4 years or just one? Will they pay for medical/law/engineering/etc. school? Best answer gets 15 points.

  1. if your father is a disabled veteran, depending on his grade of disability, Yes the military will pay for part or all of your schooling. I know how that works in California. Other states could be different, but most work the same way. Your father was given an option with a GI bill, that generally expires 10 years after his separation. I had the Navy College fund, and used it to attend school, i was not aware that it would be transferable to my children.

  2. yes i think they will because my father was in the army and he got discharged early, when i was looking for my second apartment they had some apartment that was for the military and they told me that i qualified for the apartment if i want it. so yeah i think they will pay for you to go to college.

  3. No, the free education for members of the military can't be passed on to children.  You might be eligible for scholarships because you are the child of an army/navy/air force member, but you will not automatically get a free ride.
