Will they send my FAFSA award letter to my address or my parents address

because my parents moved and for some reason I am unable to go back and fix the address. It says the SS#, name, and birthdate combo does not match any FAFSA's. But I know it was submitted because it showed me the confirmation page to print out and it says your FAFSA has been succesfully submitted

  1. Your "Award Letter" will not come from fafsa, it will come directly from your school and in that case, it will prob go to the address you gave them when you did your Student Data form.  What you are looking for is your SAR, (Student Aid Report) with was probably emailed to you if you save them an email address.

You are probably not finding your info when you go to http://fafsa.ed.gov because either

    1. either looking up the wrong year, or

    2. you filled out the wrong year when you filled it out to begin with.

Also, always be sure you use the name that is listed on your social security card.  No "Suzie" if your name is Susanne or Lissa if your legal name is Lisa for example.

Another thing, on occasion, someone will fill out a fafsa using the incorrect social security number, if this is what occurred, you will have to start all over.  Find the copy of your conformation page, it should list the name, year and social you used to apply to double check.

    Good luck.

  2. I would strongly recommend that you contact the Department of Education and find out what's gone wrong with your FAFSA processing. It's not the address confusion that's going to be a potential problem for you - it's the humongous headaches that you might have accidentally stumbled upon if there's a mismatch between the information you submitted and the data the Department is working with.

If your name, birthdate, and Social Security info really aren't matching, the Department will not process your form - they're going to kick it back to you for corrections. It may be, if they don't have your current address, that they have already tried.

Call the Department's hotline at 1-800-4-FedAid and find out what's gone wrong with your submission. If there's a delay in the processing, it will slow the disbursement of funds to your school, and you may wind up getting stuck with the bill until your aid is delivered.

I hope that helps! Good luck!

Edit: Do not click through to the fafsa.com site that the previous respondent suggested - that's not the government's FAFSA program website. It's a private company that tries to take advantage of the confusion in the URL.

The Department of Education's official FAFSA website is http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

You can always recognize a real government site by the .gov web address.
