Hello. I recently purchased an HP m8530f ( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3763161&CatId=1558 It's a KFA2 GeForce 9600 GT Video Card.

I found out that my power supply, which is 350w, is not enough for this graphics card (well, I really don't know, but the website recommends 400w), so I was planning on buying this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3287208&CatId=1078 It looks great, but I just wanted to know if it will work on my computer?

Oh yeah, and here's a link to my motherboard specification if that helps: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01421635&lc=en&cc=emea_middle_east&dlc=en&product=3740333&lang=en

Or, am I actually able to run this graphics card on the power supply I have already? Well, just in case, here's the specs to my power supply:

INPUT: 100-127V ~ /10A,

47Hz-63Hz 200-240V ~ /5A,

OUTPUT:

+12Va == /18A, 12Vb == /18A

+5V == /13A, +5Vstb == /2A

+3.3V == 15A, -12V == /0.8A,

THE COMBINE POWER ON +12Vb TOTAL 300W MAX,

+12Va &12Vb *some foreign language stuff* / *other stuff* 300W.

MAX CONTINUOUS OUTPUT POWER EQUAL TO 350W; *some stuff* / *some stuff* 350W.

MAX POWER 350W

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. With 36A total on two +12v rails I would think that you would be fine as you are, more is better for stability. It would depend on how many drives etc you would have. Check this out http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psuca...
