Agree with above, the lack of a cohesive world response will encourage Russia to flex its bellegerent might against the Eastern European countries that have pulled away.  The nations near Afghanistan are still pretty well aligned with Moscow.

I would be a lot more worried about the large area in Europe that borders Russia. Ukraine, Latvia, and so forth. These breakaway countries are much more aligned toward Europe than Russia. Kazakhstan and pretty much all of the breakaway countries near Afghanistan are still pretty well linked with Russia. If Russia attacked Ukraine, things would go downhill very quickly for the rest of the world.
