Question:

Will this Wind Turbine combo work?

I have an idea, now tell me if it will work. Take a wind turbine. Next take a gas powered home generator and take the gas tank off and combine it with a belt to the wind turbine. Gear it correctly. Now take an electric fan and put it in front of the turbine. Now you have continuous wind and electrical output. Right? The fan is blowing wind into the turbine. The turbine is spinning the belt which turns the generator which makes enough electrical power for your home!

  1. I think Bill understood what you wanted to say, but just in case here is what I see.

Combine a gas tank to a belt to a wind turbine.  That should spray gas all over the place.  Then the electric fan will have gas all over it and cause a fire assuming you plug it into the house.

  2. only my 5th perpetual motion machine of the day.

They do not work, they have never worked, they never will work.

Each stage in your complicated process has losses, some over 50%. You give the fan a really fast spin, and it generates, say 10 watts. About 2 of that gets to the turbine. About 1.5 of that gets to the generator. about 1 of that gets to the fan. Go around the loop again, and you have 0.1 watt. Next time you have 0.01 watt. (actually it's Joules, but i simplified).

Every conversion has losses. Even if they are all 99% efficient, you still lose some each time around. You do not gain, which is what you need to keep it running.

Do you think that if it were that easy, we would still be using goal plants to generate electricity?

  3. Simply put:

You get no more energy out of a generator than you put into it,

    (actually less, there are losses.)

Now if the fan is driving the generator, and the generator is driving the fan,

where would any power for anything else come from?

    Your imagination?
