Question:

Will this adapter work?

I have a modem and I lost the power cord. I found a power cord that fits in it and the volts match but I'm confused about the amps. Do they mater as much? The adapter says 500mA for the output and the modem says .75A. Is there a conversion table from mA to A?

  1. 1A is equal to 1000mA.

Is that 0.75A? Then it is the same as 750mA. Your modem needs 750mA. So that your 500mA adaptor is not be enough to supply the needed current for the modem.

However, it may still work. Just make sure the voltage is the same including polarities. The (+) and (-) thing?
