  1. Schedule looks OK, but don't work if you dont' have to. The more you work, the more your grades will suffer. And assuming you're going to law school, you'll need the best grades you can get to get in. If you have extra time, spend it preparing for the law school entry exam(s).

Also, if working will delay your graduation, you'll be losing money in the long run because you'll be delaying getting a real job. If you want to help your parents, graduate on time, with high grades, and pay them back when you graduate and are earning college graduate wages, not college student wages. You'll be able to pay them back -- and then some.

If you do work, try to limit the hours and try to find work in your field. If you can't find a paid position, consider an unpaid internship or volunteer work.

  2. This would all depend on you and how you study.  Is math a hard class for you?  Are you willing to drop weightlifting if you find you need time?  What are the hours for these classes- I am assuming they are 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Is Friday taken up all day with the two classes?  And what does the Air Force ROTC require of you - hours, volunteer time?   I wouldn't get a job first semester... just to see how all this works out first.  If you do plan on getting a job.. i would find one on campus that will be flexible with you changing class schedule.  Outside businesses sometimes make it difficult when you change your hours every semester.  Focus on school first and see how it goes... really each semester changes - maybe you are good at math and don't need to study or maybe English classes will be easier but once you find your rhythm you will be fine.   A good thing to do would be to map out the time on a spreadsheet.  If you need to get up for the ROTC at 5 am ad then put in your classes.. and figure in some study time.. prof office hours (always go to those- helps later with internships)  and then put in sleep time... then you will see how much time you have left! Good luck!

  3. sounds like a pretty sane schedule....... of course, you did not list the times... for example, if the MW classes have TOO much time in between, there is a tendency to goof off.

Let me impart the best advice I can: consider that college (15 credits per semester) is like a fulltime job - 35 to 40 hours a week. So therefore, go to school between 9 and 5 every day and you should have plenty of time to go to classes, study, do library research, write papers and do projects, and still relax. The ROTC may require some afternoons/weekends so build that in.

I had a similar schedule when in college, worked 35 hours a week washing pots and pans in the cafeterias, got involved in a couple of clubs, had a girlfriend, and still had plenty of time for fun (and I even managed to get some sleep worked in there too!) so it can be done with a little planning and dedication.

    good luck
