I am investing in a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft tank with a hood, stand, heater, filter etc... and I am sorting out which fish I am going to buy... this is my list after being switched, swapped, scrapped and changed a hundred times...

*4 Cory cats

*4 Otos 10 Guppies

*10 Neon Tetras

*4 Platys

*4 Swordtails

*4 Mollies (2 balloon 2 Dalmatian)

*2 Discus fish

*2 Angelfish (Female if possible)

*1 Neon blue dwarf gourami

*4 Harlequin rasboras

I really love this selection so please don't answer unless you absolutely know what you're doing! Thanks in advance!

P.S. How many U.S. gallons is the tank? It's 4ft x 2ft x 2ft... approximately... THANK YOU!

  1. That's roughly a 120 gallon tank, but I would still be very cautious about keeping Discus with the mix...  Livebearers aren't terribly intelligent fish, and will likely attempt to pick at the Discus and Angels, even if it is not as aggression.  Mollies also benefit greatly from large amounts of dissolved minerals in their water, which generally leads to a high pH and hard water, which the other fish will find fairly detrimental-- I would skip the Mollies too.  I would instead go with this:

    5-10 Cories

    10-15 Otos

    25 Neons

    5 Platies

    5 Swordtails

    5-6 Angels

    1 Dwarf Gourami

    15-20 Harlequin Rasboras
