I have a VGA out port on my laptop, and I'd like to be able to connect my laptop to my TV and watch shows online. Will this cord work to transfer the image to my TV? Is there something additional required, like a converter or something? I have open HDMI inputs on my television...

  1. If your TV does not have a VGA input, then yes, you will need a converter.

  2. as long as it haves that usb in the television or cable box, yes

  3. That cable should be able to convert the VGA signal to HDMI. There may be a chance that it can only convert the HDMI signal to VGA, though. It may not work both ways.

  4. You'll get the best picture if your TV has a VGA input. If it does not the next best bet is to get a VGA to component converter. VGA is analog and so is component. HDMI is digital so converting it is a more involved process and will cost you some picture quality.

The description from the link you provided says HDMI to VGA. It will not work backwards. As I said above try to find a VGA to component converter. If you can't find that a VGA to HDMI converter should work for you. Be sure it is VGA to HDMI and not HDMI to VGA!

  5. it should  work just fine without any problems.
