Will this dragon tattoo cover up my now-unwanted goth tattoo?

Heya :)

i will ask this to a pro but right now im not in a position too and wont be anytime soon.

When I was 18 (I'm 19 and a half now) I was going through a goth phase and I stupidly got this tattooed on my hip:

I still like it visually but it no longer holds positive meaning for me and surprisingly (not) I grew out of goth! So now I want it covered up.. I was planning to get this Korean water dragon tattoo anyway, but I thought maybe I could use it to cover up SV? :

the colour would be mainly a lovely azure colour, with weavings of other blues, I'm working on the design still but I have my heart set on blue.

SV is about 5" long and 0.5" high, in black ink.

what do you think?

You'll probably have to add to the dragon. Your vamp tatt is a straight line(ish) and the dragon twists, Maybe some tiger lilly or koi fish?

A good artist will help you, but I think that dragon won't be wide enough to cover all the old one without some additions.  Also, I'm not 100% sure that blue will hide black, so possibly rethink the color scheme?

just go get one of those medicated balms that fade the tattoo and if you REALLY want a new tattoo then get it. (i wouldnt suggest it because if you didnt like your first tattoo after a while, the same will probably happen with the new one)

tattoo shops can usually work pretty well with cover ups, but sometimes its easier (and better) to just have it removed.

What's to say you won't then in a couple of years grow out of liking the Korean Water Dragon idea? Not to be negative, but it could happen.

To actually answer your question, if you go to a good tattoo artist, they should be able to do almost anything in terms of a coverup, as long as they know what they are doing.
