Will this exercise tone my arms?

I am 15 years old and around 208lbs. and 6ft. tall, I am currently curling 100lbs. in 5 sets of 10, and have decided i would like to tone my arms now instead of bulking up, would dropping the weight to 70lbs. and doing lets say 100 curls in sets of 20 tone my arms and how long until i notice the results? All answers are appreciated thank you.

  1. Hrm..

    Doing 100 curls in sets of 20

    will most likely bulk you up.

    Do long, slow movements.

    And try, say, 30 curls in sets of 10.

    Remember, loong, sloow movements.

    And breath!

    Get oxygen in that body =]

  2. you would do better to drop down even more to something like 50 lbs b/c you don't want to strain yourself while you are working out.

    you need to have a regimen of fast and slow curls as well to burn calories aerobically. when the weights are too heavy, all you will do is to anaerobically burn and build bulk.

    more repetitions and don't just do curls, you can do a lot of variations of movements w/ the dumbells in your hands to get a more even work out.
