  1. No, it will just distract them from looking for work. It will be a huge waste or resources; and there is already enough.

I've never had a decent job. I couldn't even do labouring becaue you usually need a CSCS card. I had to sign on for 6 months before the Jobcentre would pay for it. When I got it, I was working the next day.

But now I want to have a better job and earn more money. When these changes take affect I won't be able to.

A lot of unemployed people just want to earn a decent living and work hard. This won't help at all.

  2. I don't think there's a hope in h**l that it's going to get people back into work, it may even put some out of work.  However, the country would be far more appealing to tourists if somebody were to keep the streets clean after children throw all their litter on the floor.  More tourism would be beneficial to every person in the country.  That would create jobs.

However, forcing people to work for the finances to afford a basic living is a form of slavery.  The current government really are conservatives in disguise.

  3. What is your job?

because you should be in work now.

  4. This has got nothing to do with getting the unemployed back to work.

What it is actually about is rolling back the Welfare State, cutting public expenditure and the State off loading any responsibility for the well being of its citizens.

It is neoliberalism in action - part of a strategy to impose "raw" capitalism in line with the tenets of globalisation. Welcome to the brave not so new world of exploitation and greed.

  5. as someone who would be effected by these changes does this mean that I could get a job like the majority of yahoo users and spend my working hours here on Yahoo Answers  Yipee I would go for that where do I sign ....

  6. I hope so, there is no excuse for being on beneits long term unless you have a proper medical reason.  I know too many people who sit about all day enjoying themselves and getting things paid for them.

I work two jobs one of which makes me unhappy and I hate going in each morning, but the other I love but can only get part time hours.  So instead of working part time and claiming income support and housing benefit, I got a full time job to support me.  If I just had my full time job I could barely afford to cover rent and bus fares.

This is my first day off in a fortnight.

I get taxed more for having two jobs and I would prefer that tax went on services which are currently over stretched rather than junkies, alcoholics and dolites who cant be bothered to get a job and expect everyone else to support them

  7. We may as well get something back for the tax payer, and there are plenty of jobs, its mainly just people being lazy and letting the system pay for everything.

  8. Some social community work for some social benefits, I have no issue with that.

Will it get people back to work, I'm not certain.

The amount of social work would be limited otherwise the government would be paying under the minimum wage.

  9. it is interesting to see that this is seen as a conservative idea when it was standard practice in the Soviet Union and other socialist states. There was no unemployment there because everybody was assigned a job like toilet cleaning or street sweeping, if they didn't already have one

  10. It will not do so for all....but will help.    Why should any who actually are capable of work decline to do so?

  11. I think it will but why not try to get the chain gangs back and chain them together

  12. No what will get the unemployed back into work is actually having enough bloody jobs for them and not allowing EU migrants to take them.

  13. a lot of people don't have a job because no one will hire them.  that doesn't mean they are bad people, it just means the employer is being picky or racist or judging.

it just depends on if the employer is willing to HIRE.

  14. What's wrong with a short, sharp shock?

I would have them doing 50 hour weeks chopping wood in the forest.

Three thumbs down? Oh dear, I've pissed off a few worthless, idle pieces of $hit. Fu¢k off and do something useful, or kill yourself you loathsome piles of vomit.

  15. People always find a way to beat the system. It might do.

  16. Sure why not, then they could spend all their time doing that instead of getting educated or finding a job.

Something like this is based on a poor view of impoverished people, based on a very small minority that will always abuse any system.

  17. I doubt if it will, they should put something back into the system for the money they get

  18. Lets be honest for what this really is!It is a last ditch attempt to shift the attention away from a discredited Prime minister and his 'toadies! And failed Labour policies!

More than that! This 'shambles' of a Labour Government have suddenly realised where the path lies for them to be returned to power!I shudder at the thought! And that is coming from a former Labour voter of nearly 50years!

All this rhetoric is aimed at  Middle England and the Employed whom they have neglected over the last 8years  for the minorities and the EU!

They have literally taxed this country until the 'pips' squeak! Now they are saying! We have made mistakes! Please return us for another term! There you can rest assured we can make an even bigger mess if given the chance!

  19. Hi Captain Starkiller.

Let me get this right. Litter and graffite is dumped on our environment by inconsiderate and thoughtless people and the sick and dis-abled have to pick it up?

  20. Probably not.

They'll probably find a way to get out of it...and what would the penalty be for NOT doing it? I don't imagine they have much to lose?

Note, this does not apply to all unemployed people. There are good and bad people of all employment statuses.

  21. Maybe it will, maybe it wont.

But it will stop some of the bone idle scroungers defrauding money out of me, and ensure that the genuinely needy recieve the high quality help they need.

This is the one policy that could save the Labour party, they should be thankfull the Tories thought if it!

  22. The British government is going to have to implement some sort of mandatory bridge to employment very soon and everybody deserves the right to work.  The British government is naive if it thinks theres enough jobs for everyone we know there isn't for obvious reasons. So maybe this is a move foward in the right direction until the current jobs crisis passes.

  23. well, its not going to help with a recession if thats what youre asking...
