  1. Have you asked an Orthopedic Surgeon? That would be the place to go. Unless there is a doc on line.....

  2. surgery

my dad did this two years ago and just recently got feeling back in his leg. i know really good spine doctors. please feel free to email me.

  3. Have you been referred for Physical Therapy of any sort?

The likelihood is that with those symptoms surgery might help, but it doesn't always help.

You may not be able to do much to relieve it, but pursuing different types of pain control, you may be better able to handle it.  Alternative therapies can help, such as massage, different types of body work(related to massage but slightly different), acupuncture, pain management hypnosis, etc all may help you better deal with the pain and discomfort.

Pain medication that helps take the edge of is also a good idea- the trick is, you have to take the medication on a steady basis, just like a blood pressure pill, to keep the pain under control.  That doesn't mean that you will become addicted.  People who take pain meds for pain control usually take enough to feel more "normal", taking what they need to be able to function better.

bottom line- you live with the pain.  The best attitude is that though you have pain, you get enough treatment to be able to get the most out of life, anyway.

  4. Maybe time will heal but probably not.  You have some serious pain, and depending on what caused the pain you may have to have surgery.  Good Luck!
