I have a Gateway laptop that is about a year old. I have wireless high speed internet but my PC has been running extremely slow lately. It says that I have 40% recovery D left and 50% disc space left.

I also have over 500 photo/videos and a couple hundred cd's stored.

So my question is- Can I go buy a few cheap jump drives and move my music and photos onto them to free up all the space on my PC and make it run faster? Or is the damage already done???

  3. You can make more disk space, but that is not what makes you run faster or slower.  You need more memory or RAM.  Check out your task manager by right clicking on the task bar and left clicking on task manager.  Check in process to see what is eating up CPU and memory.

  5. Hello From the Computer TecH:

You need to make sure the HD is running efficiently.  First clean off all c**p files under Disk cleanup then delete temps and cookies.  Run defrag at least 5 times lots of peeps run defrag once and think they are good to go.  You should do it until it takes less than 1 minute to defrag.

Check your ram of you computer with the max of the Manufactures allowance. If you are not maxed out buy what you can afford ram is what make info flow on a system.

Lastly go to a site called Speed Guide.net and check out their downloads to ensure efficient internet speed.
