Will this help me to play volleyball...?

Even though i'm very unathletic, i was wanting to try out for volleyball next school year, but we have to wear really tiny spandex shorts and my legs are big and nasty looking. I was wondering if i stretched, did 100 situps or crunches, 10 pushups, and ran 5 minutes a day 5 times a week...

Then each week add another minute and another crunch and another pushup will that help me to tone up my legs and get in shape to help me play volleyball next year?

I no its long please suffer through it and answer!!

i will give a best answer!! = )

  1. I had the same problem! I did the same as you but instead of 5 mins of running I did 15 and instead of adding 1 to each thing I did a week I added 10 (except for running I only added 1 min.)! Good Luck with your try outs next year and I hope this helped!!! :)

  2. Here's the ultimate easy answer.

Yes, it will make a difference.

    Right now, you're doing....what...nothing?

So, any amount of situps. Any amount of pushups will help you.

The only thing I have to say is that you're pushing it with those numbers you're giving.  Tone it down and stretch it out for a long period of time.

Remember this, low weight, high repetition gets you toned muscles.  High weight, low repetition gives you mass.

  3. sure or go to your school weught room!

  4. What i think you should do is, run 20 minutes a day for 3 to 5 days a week. Also, stick with a healthy diet. Another thing you should do is, work on your volley ball practice. Because, like you said, you are an unathletic girl.

  5. Increase the running to at least ten minutes, and you'll look great!

Also, you might want to increase your stamina when exercising, so gradualy increase the amount of time you run, and you'll be able to play for longer!

  6. do calf lifts, run the stairs, and run like the wind. i'm on volleyball and trust me spandex is quite comfortable once you get use to it. i'm a big girl myself, and unhappy about the way i look. but once i'm on that court i feel soo HOT! trust me, just work hard and it WILL work.

  7. Eat your spinich and drink your milk.

  8. Hmm...I think it's a good goal to work on. But if you want to make the volleyball team, you should practice with friends or something. I mean all your efforts could go to waste if you don't work on volleyball skills too. Plus, it can also help get you in shape. Try some leg squats to tone up too. Hope this helps and I hope you make it!! Good luck! :)

  9. situps crunches and pushups have nothing to do with your legs...run run run!

  10. your definition of sick and nasty legs might actually just be muscle.

don't feel self consious.. you know we all hate wearing spandex.

its somewhat degrading. :) haha. anyways. just focus on the game, no one is going to judge you. trust me.

  11. well most of the time is muscle but other than that don't forget your knee pads.

  12. Any physical activities that you do will help you to feel better abut your body no matter what shape or size it is.  I think that you should go and try out for the team.  Volleyball is a great sport and you can build great friendships too.  I think that the workout that you described will work great.  Good Luck!

  13. I mean I do about 200 crunches a night, and run in the gym like 3 days a week.  I used to be very out of shape, it all depends on what you eat also.  I know at my college, I used to be the sports editor of my school paper so I would cover some womens vball games.  They always went to work out together.

My point is that it is not all exercising, depends on what you eat too.  I am not a personal trainer but I have wanted to "bulk up" and that is what a lot of my friends and trainers I have worked with have told me.

    Good luck!

  14. that should help u tone your legs but u should not be worryed what u look like it does madder every body have diffrances!
