  1. You did the right thing. Like some of the others said....it will rot out in a few days. Excellent Job!!

  2. Usually not because their no way for the fish to get rid of it as waste. When I catch a fish that's completely swallowed the hook and is a decent size, I keep him because he will mostly likely die anyway. I know that makes me sound heartless, but that's just the way of things. I'm all for conservation and try to release the little guys but, sometimes, hook swallowing is unavoidable. Next time, take the same size hook you were using but buy circle hooks; they're designed specifically to hook any fish in the corner of the mouth, they promote conservation and you don't have to yank your rod like you see on Bass Masters. Just reel in your slack line and twitch your rod tip and 9 times out of 10, you'll hook 'em.  I'm kind of partial to Owner hooks myself, but buy 2 or 3 different name brands and see which ones you like best. Hope this info helps on your next trip. Tight lines!! :D

  3. He will be fine. They can got weeks without eating so the hook will have plenty of time to disolve in his stomach. Most of the time the fish will shake it loose in his mouth and regurgatate it. I have caught bass before and have them spit up 5" plastic worms with 3/0 ewg hooks in my livewell.

    The bass should live.

  4. yea he will because eventually the hook will rust and come right out so he should be

  5. yes u did the best thing cutting your line . it will rot in three days.nice job.

  6. he'll be OK the hook dissolves when it stays in water too long unless it was bleeding too much
