  1. people are just lookin for advice & a sense of direction in their fighting bro, different people take different approaches to things.

  2. - Bruce Lee vs... insert name here... who would win?

    - What is the deadliest style of martial arts?

    - Do ninjas really disappear in a puff of smoke?

    - What is the name of that martial art where you learn to make fireballs?

  3. I personally like questions that make me think, or provide opportunities for people who study martial arts to educate others on the realities of martial arts versus perceptions

    I also appreciate when people are considering starting training, and are looking for information and guidance on how to go about it

    Unfortunately, a lot of times these degenerate into a debate about who could kick who's butt

    when taken as a sort of an intellectual exercise that stimulates discussion and thought, this is good; when it becomes an ego battle, where people are just criticizing each other, it's pointless, so I just ignore that stuff;

    I have yet to see someone say yeah I've been studying style A for 10 years, but style B is better; presumabley, if they thought style B was better, they'd be studying style B, right?

    the truth is, people are people, and people just like to show off what they know

    two things I am a little tired of:

    1) WWE vs MMA: who would win?  Big shocker: WWE fans pick the WWE guy, MMA fans pick the MMA guy; The truth is, it's an apples and oranges thing; although there is some crossover that's interesting to look at (eg. ken shamrock, brock lesner, bam bam bigelow) for the most part it's like asking if bruce lee from the movies could beat up real life bruce lee. and speaking of.....

    2) Bruce Lee: not the man, just the questions; I have as much respect for Bruce as anyone, and I feel any serious martial artist should be at least aquainted with the man as martial artist (as opposed to the movie star), but the speculation of how good he really was has been going on for 40 years; every day there's a dozen more questions about the same thing; I just wish there was some sort of archive that people could check before they post, to make sure there question hasn't already been asked a thousand times already.  what puzzles me is why there are people out there that still answer these questions

    Honorable mention: questions about how to beat someone up in a fight at school; I generally just tell the kid to try to avoid it, and I appreciate when others do likewise; what worries me is when people give an answer instructing someone to use this or that technique that not only doesn't address the issue of avoiding conflict, but might actually get the kid hurt even worse ( Yahoo answers is just not the place for technical training)

  4. Am I tired of the old "who would win"?   of course

    Why can't anyone do an online search for themselves?  um,.. don't know

    Why is everyone so sure their style is the best style in the history  of styles?  no idea

    What you have to remember is that this a forum for non-martial artist with ma questions and a place for the experienced to discuss techniques, etc.  There is no pre-qualifications for asking or answering.  So for every 'great' question, there are bound to few 'dumb' ones.

    There are way more martial arts enthusiasts, than there are actual martial artists in the world.  Why should the Answers forum be any different.
