Will this subwoofer combo work good and last long?

I will be looking to run this system at 2 ohm in a 4 door sedan with limited trunk space.

  1. That is a good system, but I recommend stepping up the amp with higher wattage. Get a monoblock amplifier that puts out at least 800w RMS at 2 ohms, and then turn the gain down a little, so no overheating occurs. If you keep the gain all the way up, yes you will be powering the sub at its recommended continuous power, but the amp will fry in a month. Alpine MRP-M1000 would be great, and run about 800w RMS to the subwoofer which is perfect, and the amp won't overheat one bit. It only costs $290 too!


  2. Yea i wouldn't listen to the other guy. If you put 1000 watts into that subwoofer it will eventually blow. But the amp you are looking at is perfect if you are looking to match the RMS which you should be doing. I mean kickers can handle like 100 or so watts over the RMS but running 1000 into it is way to much.
